Business Coaching for Editors

Take your business to the next level with custom guidance and support.

Do you want to make your editing business work better for you? I work with editors who are looking to make a change and want some help getting there.

We’ll discuss your dreams for your business, then work together to come up with a strategy to help you get there. We’ll set long-term concrete goals to help you realize those dreams, and break those goals down into achievable steps that work for you. It’s kind of like developmental editing for your business. And it’s custom designed for your goals and needs.

I’ve worked with editors who have been in the industry for decades and are looking to change their focus. I’ve worked with editors who have been running a business a few years and are looking to find their footing. I’ve helped editors come up with plans to launch new services, figure out how to better connect with prospective clients, how to refocus and rebrand their businesses, and more.

My coaching package is $525. It includes four weekly video-chat sessions and a bunch of stuff for you to work on in between them.

Want to discuss how I could help you? Shoot me an email!

I also run online courses for editors. Most of them are self-paced, so you can take them whenever works for you. If you enjoy learning in that format, go check them out!

What Others Have to Say

Tanya was open-minded and interested, and asked insightful questions that made me think about my business and my processes in new and fascinating ways. They offered suggestions tailored to my own way of working and being, which allowed me to take a deep breath and stop trying to cram myself into an ill-fitting mold. I went in feeling stuck and emerged feeling full of possibilities!
I’ve been investing in my business for the last year and coaching with Tanya has been its peak. Tanya has the ability to quell all signs of imposter syndromes you’ve ever had and help you cement your confidence. I’ve come away with the conviction that I can shape my editing business how I want fearlessly. I also have a sense of direction for the first time in nearly a decade of self-employment. With this coaching programme Tanya has created a safe space to explore one’s fears, creativity and aspirations for a better work–life future.
Tanya helped me focus on what is truly important for me and my editing work, and provided constructive and practical steps to take each week. I left each session buzzing with new ideas and questions to reflect upon, but also a sense that I was back in control of my decision-making and equipped with more tools to tackle the challenges of being a freelancer.
Tanya’s superpower is recognizing the unique untapped potential of each of their coaching clients, and then they are right there with you forming a solid plan to reach that potential.
If you’re looking for an editing coach, I highly recommend Tanya! My mindset has shifted since I started working with them, and I’m seeing tangible positive results in my business.
Working with Tanya is like purifying your air. You don’t even know that it’s happening, but as you discuss your business—the gray areas and challenges—somehow your thoughts congeal and finally make authentic sense. Even if this isn’t your first entrepreneurial rodeo, their guidance and alchemical ability to lead you to yourself is unmatched.
Tanya helped me reset my business and point it toward my life and career goals. Tanya is amazingly perceptive, eminently helpful, and incredibly smart about the business of editing. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

Tanya helped me get traction in areas I’ve felt hopelessly stuck and frustrated. They have a compassionate but straightforward approach: they listened carefully to my challenges and goals, pointed out successes and qualities I often overlook, and helped me tackle my barriers in ways that felt doable and resonated with me, but that also gave me a much-needed nudge outside my usual comfort zone. I came away with actionable plans, tools, and a clearer path. During my work with Tanya, I started to see possibilities for myself and my editorial business in ways I hadn’t before.
I now have a clear vision of where I want my business to go and a perfect frame that links up my strengths, passions, and interests.
Tanya’s a champion at building confidence and helping create solid, workable steps to get you to your goal (and telling you things you really need to hear, many times over).
Tanya is such an approachable, friendly and encouraging coach! I’ve come out of the process with a new perspective, and I feel excited to get started on making changes. They went above and beyond to make sure we had time to talk about important issues that may be holding me back, and helped me figure out how to incorporate my writing life into my business. Thanks to them, I have a much better idea of what matters to me, and what I want my business to look like.

About Me

Hi! I’m Tanya! 👋🏻

I love stories so much I’ve pretty much built my life around them.

I’ve been in publishing for over twenty years. I spent twelve of those years working in-house for publishers, getting an MA in Creative Writing along the way, before I decided to start my own business.

And these years since that decision have been the best of my career. Running my own business has given me the opportunity to use all my industry knowledge and to pursue the many things that light up my brain.

I developed business coaching to help other editors create businesses that bring them as much joy and satisfaction as I’ve found in mine.

Business Coaching Scholarship

Are you an editor from a background, culture, or community that has been historically underrepresented in publishing? Do you need some help paying for professional development? Then I hope you’ll apply for the Business Coaching Scholarship.

All you need to do is email me up to 400 words describing how my coaching service could help you achieve your professional goals. I’ll be awarding a scholarship to one person per year, making the recipient’s total cost only $40 for four one-on-one sessions.

I accept scholarship applications from June 1 until June 20 every year.
